Mossley Hill

Chorley Ladies F.C. have not been beaten on the opening day of the season since 2004-05 and this remarkable record remained intact , following the terrific 6-1 home victory over Mossley Hill last Sunday !

Indeed , likewise to the opening day last season , when the team won 4-0 away at Crewe Alexandra , Chorley Ladies topped the first league table , on the first day of the new season on goal difference .

Scarlett Smith opened the scoring for Chorley with just one minute 29 seconds on the clock , scoring her second goal on 76 minutes , taking her total league goals tally to a round figure of 40 in five seasons . In the four opening league games in which Scarlett has played ( 2012-13 , 2013-14 , 2014-15 and 2017-18 ) she has scored in every game !. Two well taken goals by Rachel Wood , took her total league tally to 18 , while Kerry Nixon's goal , took her to four . The remaining goal from league debutant Lisa Topping on 45 +3 minutes , completed the scoring sequence . Full league debuts also fell to Kimberley Sykes and Laura Walker , with Maddy Cullin being introduced on 62 minutes , goal keeper Meghan Pope being an unused substitute .

It is well worth noting that both Rachel and Scarlett have continued where they left off in pre season ...... Scarlett scoring 7 and Rachel 6 , each in four appearances . In total , there were 15 different scorers from a total of 34 goals scored in the four Friendly matches .

Following Sundays game , Rachel and Scarlet were jointly voted Player of the Match by the clubs supporters .

Past History ....... Chorley Ladies versus Hull City Ladies .

Although there have only been four previous league meetings between Chorley Ladies and Hull City Ladies , history between our two clubs actually began over 30 years ago ! In the 1970's , former England Captain and Chorley Ladies Player Manager Sheila Parker had become a very close friend of Flo Bilton , who had been the Women's Football Association Membership Secretary , founder of Reckitts WFC and Secretary of the Northern Counties Women's Football League .

Flo used to organise the popular Hull 7 a-side Tournament with entry  by Invitation only and Chorley proudly  played in the competition during the mid to late 1980's . Our clubs last involvement was on Sunday 13th September 1987 and it would take 28 years for our two teams to meet again under the auspice of the FAWPL . One of the great pioneers of Women's Football to whom we all owe a great debt , Flo sadly passed away in 2004 , aged 82 , after battling Parkinson's Disease in later years .

Lancashire County Cup : First Round Draw : 2017-18

The draw for the First Round of the Lancashire County Cup , to be played on Sunday September 17th , has paired Chorley Ladies at home to Haslingden Ladies and Girls of the Lancashire County League Division One . Our Development Team are due to meet them in an away league fixture on October 1st . We have been playing teams from Rossendale ( who became Haslingden in 1993-94 ) since 1984-85 , although our forthcoming Cup opponents are not connected to these past names . Chorley reached the Final of the County Cup on Valentines Day 2001 , losing to Blackpool Wren Rovers , under lights at the County Ground , Leyland .

On this day in History :  August 27th :

This date has only been used once since 1983-84 , the year being 1989 . Chorley duly competed at the picturesque Clitheroe 7 a-side Tournament , played in the Castle Fields . Chorley beat Lady Blues and FC Redstar , but lost to Clitheroe , Wigan and eventual Cup Winners North Fylde .
