Hull City

For 52 minutes last Sunday , Chorley Ladies played out a tremendous game plan against last seasons Runners Up in the sweltering conditions at Euxton . Indeed , if Rachel Woods cracking drive on 48 minutes had not struck the wood work , Chorley would have taken a 3-0 lead and probably would have gone on to take the vital three points at stake . Instead , our 100% home record versus the Tigers was lost in a 25 minute spell , in which our opponents scored four goals , two coming immediately after they introduced two of their three substitutes to the match . Vicky Coope's volley , which flew into the net on 86 minutes , seemed harshly disallowed and with six minutes injury time to be played , who knows what the outcome could have been ?

However , there was much to be positive about , in particular , the fantastic showing from everyone in the First Half against a team who will be pushing for promotion come the end of the season !

Making her Substitute Debut on 64 minutes ( replacing the hard working Lisa Topping ) was new signing Karis Harrison , wearing the Squad Number 14 Shirt .

Jen Kings well taken goal on 25 minutes was only her second League Goal for the club in 45 Appearances , her first one arriving on October 16th 2016 in the 3-1 home win over Chester le Street . Jen also has two cup goals to her credit in the FAWPL Plate and County Cup .

The Supporters , Players and Management Player of the Match was awarded to Club Captain Janet Mitchell who last won the Award on March 12th 2017 for her outstanding  performance in our home match versus Liverpool Feds . Rachel Wood was Awarded the Opposition Player of the Match from Hull City and she remains our  Leading Goal Scorer with three goals in two games .

Chorley Ladies in the League Cup .

On Sunday October 16th 1983 , Second Division Leaders  Chorley Ladies , welcomed the North West Women's League Division One Leaders Preston Rangers ( now Fylde ) to Astley Park and fought bravely throughout a match that they would honourably lose 5-0 ..... the League Cup Competition Trail had begun !

Over the following four seasons , Chorley would fail to win any of their First Round matches until November 20th 1988 when Daresbury were beaten at home 3-1 ( Lynne Godsmark 50 & 57 , Anne Stockdale 83 ) . Chorley's reward on January 22nd 1989 was a home tie versus Women's Football Giants Leasowe ( now Everton ) , who's team was packed with International quality throughout . Topping the NWWL Division One and having scored 94 League Goals in 8 games , Chorley would be played off the park in an 18-2 defeat ( Anne Stockdale 31 & 90 ) .

The re organisation of the Women's League's for season 1989-90 would see Chorley Ladies compete for a further 23 seasons in the North West Women's Regional Football League " League Cup " with three Semi Final appearance being our best showing .

In 1999-00 ( 30.04.00 ) , Egerton won their home tie 2-0 , in 2001-02 ( 12.05.02 ) , Trafford won their home tie 1-0 and the following season , 2002-02 ( 27.04.03 ) , Newsham PH won their home tie 4-0 .

Our two seasons spent in the Northern Women's Combination in 2012-13 & 2013-14 of course saw no League Cup Competition, until the FAWPL Northern Division One was formed in 2014-15 . In the three seasons that we have competed in the FAWPL League Cup , we have failed to get past the Determining Round , with previous losses against F.C. Reedswood (H) , Radcliffe Olympic (H) and Nottingham Forest (A) .

Looking Back ...... A League Cup Blockbuster !

It is perhaps difficult to comprehend in 2017 , with our two clubs now being poles apart , but back on October 12th 1997 , Chorley Ladies knocked out Manchester City in the First Round of the NWWRFL League Cup !  That season , both teams were in Division Two and City would win the title by a massive 11 points more then second placed Trafford ..... Chorley would finish 8th with 22 points .

Nicky Boyle scored both Chorley's goals on 20 & 74 minutes , with Justine Mason making it a very nervy end on 86 minutes . Team Captain Karen Browne in goal , pulled off save after save against the future champions , who also beat us at home 7-0 and away 5-1 in the corresponding league fixtures .  Another marvellous day in the long chequered history of Chorley Ladies F.C.
